A new community group for AWS users who have an interest in cost optimization is starting up in Sydney, Australia.

Hosted by AWS cost optimization and billing specialists and customer subject matter experts, this meetup series is designed for AWS users who want to better deal with the complexities around cost optimisation and cost management, especially those that arise from operating at scale. This community group intends to help its members accelerate their growth in cost optimization and cost management maturity by sharing lessons learned from customers who have “been there”.
The target audience includes technical professionals and managers seeking to improve their cost optimisation capability, and Finance/Procurement staff looking to understand what works for others in terms of cost management (including cost visibility, showback, and chargeback).
We will have two customer speakers Paul Wakeford, Fairfax Media and Mike Fuller, Atlassian who will talk about creating a cost control culture (incl. use of dashboards, incentives/KPIs), RIs, enterprise programs, the benefits of Enterprise Support, billing visibility, billing file ingestion, and take a deep dive into billing file understanding.
We will also have discussion/question time to talk about typical challenges that AWS users face and potential solutions, topics of interest for subsequent meetups, and record product feature enhancements that would be useful for cost optimisation.
AWS staff attending will include TAMs, Concierge, and other cost optimisation specialists.
